£8million Kate’s wedding gown

Kate Middleton’s famous wedding dress, which is currently on display in Buckingham Palace, is all set to rake in a staggering 8 million pounds by the time the exhibition gets over.

The silk gown by Sarah Burton dress has already attracted a record number of visitors to Buckingham Palace, and it is expected that by October 3 when the display closes, the bumper sum will already be in the kitty.

More than 354,000 visitors have flocked to the palace since it opened to the public this year on July 23, which according to the Royal Collection is up by 20 per cent on last year and a record for the period.

“This year has been our highest to date. The wedding dress has proved very popular,” the Daily Express quoted a spokeswoman for the Royal Collection as saying.

Though every year, all the money from the summer opening goes to the Royal Collection, this year the takings will include a donation to the Duke and Duchess’ wedding charity fund – which has already topped 1 million pounds– and will benefit 26 good causes.
